Turkey Withdrawl

It seems I am lacking the necessary turkey day left overs to curb my appetite.  Turkey sandwiches lathered in mayo, maybe with a bit of mashed potatoes to make it all slide down.  Some cranberry sauce for dessert sounds quite delicious too.  Maybe a post turkey day feast should be arranged….hmmm maybe.

All I am waiting for now is a unlock for the sim card. Otherwise, I have a fully functional iPhone minus the phone. In time, in time. Computers are a funny thing.

With growing admiration of my iPod touch, and an ever growing want to have an iPhone, I decided to read up on cracking the iPhone to work with T-Mobile.  I started reading, and found some good info, and decided, “What the heck! Lets give it a go!”  If all else fails, just return the iPhone or if it works return the iPod touch.  So, out of the box, and hoping that the iPhone hadn’t been packed with 1.1.2.  I was confident that it would have 1.1.1 as that is what the iPod touch had.

I started following the steps, and all was going well.  Then I got hung up at jailbreakme.com.  This tipped me off that it was 1.1.2.  After following some short instructions, I found out it the firmware was indeed 1.1.2.

As of right now, there is not way to activate it on the new firmware, however, “progress is being made.”

So, if anyone would like to trade an old 1.1.1 original that would be peachy :).  Otherwise I am going to have to make a decision on whether or not to jailbreak it (use it like an iPod touch) and be patient for a SIM crack, or just return it and hang my head in defeat.

I think this is the first year that I have been excited for daylight savings.  I’ve been counting down the days…and I would have to say that my first “saved daylight” morning has been enjoyed to the fullest.  Waking up to the sun is always better.  Thanks Ben Franklin.
