Grant Blakeman at TEDxBoulder

I was given the privilege of leading the TEDxBoulder photography crew, and in all honesty, I had no idea what I was doing. I have never done anything of the sorts, and none the less I got chosen as the lead photographer. So, what do you do? Shoot, shoot, shoot and hope for the best.

My biggest goal was to bring a little of my style into the shots with long exposures, small apertures and wide angles. Amazingly enough I think it worked.

Then it came to the nitty gritty of capturing the speakers with the iconic logo in the background. It was simply trying to get the speaker in the right location, getting the focus, and firing shots until the right pose was captured. I missed a good amount of shots with the wrong focus, and over exposing. However, with the exposure right, focus dead on, an editable shot was captured. It was just a matter of cranking the black point as I do, smoothing out the background and going from there.

Needless to say, I rather enjoyed the opportunity and hopefully get a chance to do something of the same nature again.
